Tolo – An Ideal Holiday Destination

Tolo – A Welcoming Destination for Ideal Holidays

Picture this: a long sandy beach, the sun shining bright, children playing in the sand, afternoon strolls with an ice cream in hand along Bouboulina and Sekeris streets… Memories from holidays in Tolo are always sweet — with just a touch of sea salt.

A Beloved Spot for Everyone

Everyone knows Tolo. Apart from its welcoming permanent residents (those of us living in big cities admittedly envy them), many people own vacation homes in the area, and even more choose it for their summer holidays. Whichever group you belong to, one thing is certain: the seaside village of Tolo is one of my favorite Greek destinations.

Everything You Need Is Right Here

And that’s no coincidence — the area offers everything your heart desires: traditional hospitality (something we all seek), natural beauty, and an ideal location for excursions to nearby archaeological sites, all crowned by a stunningly clean and inviting sea.

As for accommodation, if you’re not among the lucky ones with a holiday home, don’t worry. Here, you’ll find a wide variety of hotels, furnished apartments, and rooms. Wondering about food? No need! There’s a great range of dining options — fresh seafood, local meats, fast food — and for nightlife lovers, there’s no need to go far. Tolo’s bars and clubs are well known in the region.

Car-Free Holidays

Parents, this is your summer paradise! Your children can play for hours on the sandy “Psili Ammos” beach, while everything you need is just a few steps away — no need for a car. Who wants to spend time driving on vacation?

And of course, this doesn’t apply only to families — couples, elderly visitors (for whom driving under the hot summer sun is exhausting), or even groups of young friends without their own transportation, will all find Tolo to be incredibly convenient.

I won’t say more. We’ll talk about the rest in Tolo — see you on the beach!

Did You Know?

From Tolo, you can easily visit Ancient Asini, Epidaurus, Ancient Tiryns, Mycenae, Argos, and Nafplio by car. Scheduled cruises also take you to Spetses, Hydra, Poros, Monemvasia, and even to Nafplio by night!

While the modern history of Tolo begins in 1830 with the establishment of the settlement “Minoa”, the bay of Tolo is actually mentioned by Homer!

The beach “Psili Ammos” is considered one of the most beloved in the Nafplio area. Apart from its golden sand, a major advantage is the variety of water sports it offers. You can also take a boat trip to nearby beaches such as Plaka and Kondyli.

Tip

Don’t miss a boat tour around Tolo Bay — visit the two nearby uninhabited islets, Romvi and Koronisi. On Koronisi, light a candle at the Byzantine chapel of the Holy Apostles. The island once hosted an old monastery, which also served as a seminary, hence the name “Daskalio” (meaning “place of teaching”).

On Romvi, Venetian General Francesco Morosini set up his headquarters in order to liberate Nafplio from the Ottoman Turks.

Tolo awaits you to create unforgettable summer memories. See you on the beach!
